We help our guests take full advantage of everything Yachana has to offer either through our regular itineraries or more customized tours. Most travellers get to Yachana by plane, but some may prefer the public bus as an alternative. The bus can be a rough ride for some, as it will travel most of the way over dirt roads. However, you will see some spectacular scenery as you descend through the Andes mountains and into the Amazon. It is vitally important that this trip is coordinated through our Quito office to ensure you will be met at the river port. The following are directions for each:
By plane:Typically, visitors arrange a flight with our Sales representative from Quito to Coca. Your guide will meet you at the Coca airport, escort you to the river port to board our comfortable covered motorized canoe, and then accompany you up-river to the Yachana Lodge. The flight is about 30 minutes, and the canoe ride is about 2.5 hours. Currently, roundtrip airfare is $135 and the canoe ride is included with your reservations.
By public bus:
Visitors may also purchase a bus ticket to Tena, and then transfer to another bus to Comuna Los Rios. If you need assistance, a representative can meet you in Tena to help with the transfer. Upon arriving in Comuna Los Rios, your guide will join you and accompany you down-river in our motorized canoe to Yachana Lodge. The bus ride is about 5-6 hours from Quito to Tena, and 3 hours from Tena to Comuna Los Rios. Bus fare will cost about $20 roundtrip per person, and the canoe ride is included with your reservations.
