Getting to Yachana

We help our guests take full advantage of everything Yachana has to offer either through our regular itineraries or more customized tours. Most travellers get to Yachana by plane, but others may prefer public bus as an alternative. The bus can be a rough ride for some, as it will travel part of the way over dirt roads.  However, you will see some spectacular scenery as you descend down from the Andes Mountains and into the Amazon. Whatever your chosen method of travel, it is vitally important that your trip be coordinated through our Quito office to ensure you will be met at the river port.

  By plane:

VISITORS MUST ARRANGE THEIR FLIGHTS WITH A YACHANA SALES REPRESENTATIVE FOR TRAVEL FROM QUITO TO COCA AND BACK.  Your guide will meet you at the Coca airport, escort you to the river port to board our comfortable, covered motorized canoe, and then accompany you up river to Yachana Lodge. The flight takes 30 minutes, and the canoe ride is about 2-1/2 hours depending on river conditions. Currently, roundtrip airfare is $136 and includes transfers, a box lunch and the canoe ride.

   By public bus:

You may also travel by bus to Tena where you would then transfer to another bus to La Comuna Los Ríos.  If you need assistance, a Yachana representative can meet you in Tena to help with the transfer. Upon arriving in La Comuna Los Ríos, your guide will join you and accompany you down river in our motorized canoe to Yachana Lodge. The bus ride takes about five hours from Quito to Tena and another three hours from Tena to La Comuna Los Ríos.  Bus fare will cost about $20 roundtrip per person and the canoe ride is included in your lodge reservation.
